Heughan House extension
Auchencairn Initiative has been busy over June, July and August finalising grant submissions and pressing forward with tenders for the extension and improvements to Heughan House. Because of the pandemic, materials are in short supply and the demand for building work is soaring. Quotations have been received which were 50% more than expected.
It was decided to engage with existing larger grant providers to see if they could contribute any further funding. It is estimated there will still be shortfall of £10,000. An email was circulated among members for fundraising ideas. New applications would be made to other funders, but it was noted there are deadlines within the financial year to spend current provisions and the quotations from builders are time limited.
Heughan House maintenance
Work on the balustrade around the decking area is to be progressed as soon as possible.
Link Park and Allotments
One allotment has been vacated and re-let.
It has been noted that there is some work needed to repair the footpath which leads to the bridge on the Link Park side. This will be progressed as high priority.
Electric Vehicle Charging Point
This will be progressed with the aim of installing a rapid charger in Heughan House car park as the building work progresses to minimise impact.
Membership
We are sorry to lose Rosie McClure as one of the Director/Trustees of Auchencairn Initiative, We would like to thank her for an invaluable contribution to our work over the last two years.
To ensure our contact details are up to date and potentially expand our membership, it was decided a membership form would be produced and circulated to all households in Auchencairn during September. This will enable people to resubmit their details if they are a current member or join the Initiative. There will also be the opportunity to indicate if people are willing to join the Board of Directors / Trustees if a role is vacated during the year.
